Creature = Greater Cerbane Habitat = Savanah-Grasslands of the DiCellkos dimension Status = Apex (Land) Predator Height = 3'4"(male) / 3'0"(female) Weight = 190lbs(male) / 180lbs(female)
List of anatomical superiorities ...
- deep chest cavity has room for the expansion of its large lungs, and monitoring intake and rate of breathing while running ... this allows the Greater Cerbane to run for longer periods.
- long legs allow the Greater Cerbane to stand above and see over the tall grasses and brushes that inhabit its territory.
- the lower jaw is slightly longer than the upper, this allows the Greater Cerbane to more easily scoop up water, chunks of its prey, and enforce a stronger bite force.
- the upper jaw most notibly posesses two thick, long canine fangs and a third thick fang that juts from the center; this third fang is similar to that seen on Earth narwhals, however, here it is used to stab the prey and pin it down better when the Greater Cerbane tackles it.
- like dinosaur/prehistoric raptors, the Greater Cerbane is able to extend its inner digits, that have longer claws, so that it can hook on to its prey better.
- though reletively short its tail is rather flat, narrow in width, and able to catch the wind as it runs so that it can make sharper turns.
- under the mane on its lower back is hard, calloused skin that aids in protecting the spine.
- like some arachnids, the Greater Cerbane has thin hairs that trail along the top of its head, back of its neck, on its chin and cheeks, at its elbows and heels, and on the tip of its tail that cause severe dermal irritation to those who touch them.
Colors of the Greater Cerbane ... - sorrel = majority of body fur - dark brown = muzzle, on pads of paws, underbelly-chest, horizontal body stripes - blue = eyes, tongue, loose bare skin (mainly for display ... brighter on males) (commonly there are flecks of black and pale grey)
List of notable ways of life ... - lives in a pack of 2 to 5 members, ruled by alpha female - has an overall nasty temper; they often fight amongst the other members of their pack but not usually to the death (unless necessary) - usually solo hunters; unlike wolves, they'll charge a herd and strike out at whichever member of that herd becomes available to attack first - though it preys mainly on the larger herbivores and omnivores that dwell within the region, if there is no prey available, and the pack is starving, they will resort to canibalism on either the weakest member or one of the pups
Caution - has a particularly bad habit of gnawing on vehicles, its fangs puncturing gaping holes in the tires and metal ... sometimes completely destroying it! DO NOT APPROACH!
Original and well thought through.
Thank you so much for the compliment!
